Surrender: In the context of an adoption, this is a term that is used to refer to a voluntary, as opposed to an involuntary, termination of parental rights by a biological parent of a child that is to be adopted, when the parent signs a formal written Relinquishment or a Consent to Adoption document, which usually takes place in the presence of witnesses and/or a Notary Public.Find more information on Surrender
