Mainstreaming

Mainstreaming: A term that typically refers to the placement of a child with special developmental, physical, emotional or educational deficiencies or challenges into a regular classroom setting for part or all of the school day, with the long-term goal of helping the child make a gradual adjustment into as many aspects of normal life as possible, so that the child can become a functioning member of society to whatever extent he or she is able.
